Quinta Vista Alegre, a haunted house

 

Two centuries ago, there was a family with two children and a nanny living in the house, the nanny’s name was Celina. Celina took care of the children. One day Celina went to the river, she was walking the boys in their stroller and stopped by the river to read a book. Suddenly, the stroller fell into the river; Celina ran quickly to save them but she couldn’t and all of them died.

The bodies were never rescued and legend has it that Celina and the children live in the house, you even might hear Celina playing the piano during full moon nights.

Our experience in Pueyo de Jaca

It’s  one of our best experiences in life because we have met new friends from Alcorcon and we participate in really funny activities as commemorating Halloween or playing games and making dream catchers in the Canadian workshop. We have learnt a lot of things: the geography, vegetation and animals of Canada; how to recycle and many, many new words.

The food is not bad at all; we have breakfast at 9, lunch at 2 and dinner around 9. We have three breaks along the day and after dinner we play games or do yoga. Finally we have a shower and go to bed, it’s nearly 12, a long, long day…

JOURNEY TO PUEYO DE JACA

The journey from Avila to Pueyo de Jaca was very exhausting and tiring. We left our city at half past eight, everybody was carrying enormous suitcases. The bus was big, comfortable and luxury. Everybody was really nervous. We said goodbye to our parents, and we got into the bus, the trip had just began. The first hours were funny, and when we reached Alcorcon we met the students from the high school “Galileo Galilei”. They were really friendly. Between Madrid and Zaragoza we made our first stop to eat our sandwiches. In our way to Zaragoza we saw a film called “School or Rock”. We stopped another time, but now in Zaragoza to relax for a while. We even had time to watch another film, “Big Fish”, and a few hours later we arrived at Pueyo de Jaca. We were very tired.

GYMKHANA IN PANTICOSA

After lunch, the monitors proposed us to play a game. We played in teams and our task was to take photos of fifteen places that they have chosen before. The group arriving the first to the park (our meeting point) would win. Among other things, we had to found the bakery, the statue next to the church, the oldest bridge in the town, animals in the village, the Irish pub, three springs, the town hall, pictures of animals in the town, a tree with fruits…It took us forty-five minutes. Eventually two groups won. It was very funny and we enjoyed it a lot.

Pueyo de Jaca

·         El Pueyo de Jaca, is situated at an altitude of 1091 meters to the left of the river Gallego, tail Bubal Marsh, belongs to the region of Alto Gallego and the municipality of Panticosa.
Pueyo means a place at the top, hill or tower. For many centuries it was known as the Pueyo, in 1857 acquired an official place name "El Pueyo de Jaca"
Of note is the parish church of San Miguel (sixteenth century) which was later absorbed by another eighteenth century church, it has a single nave with side chapels. Concello mention the bridge over the river Caldara, along which the road was built in 1550, but has been rebuilt several times.

MOUNTAINS AND RIVERS IN PUEYO DE JACA

Pueyo de Jaca is found in the valley of Tena ( situated in the centre of the Pirineo Aragonés), on the banks of the reservoir, by the confluence of the rivers Gallego and Caldares and in the northwest facing Peña Blanca. Interesting places to visit are Peña Telera y los ibones de Sabocos y de los Asnos.

Of note are the conservation of their last-century houses and the church of San Miguel of the sixteenth century, the Mansion of Vinasse and the Town Council Bridge.
